The method involves using electrodes (2) with or without a metal shrinkage ring (4). The electrodes are slidable located against a special contact plate for transferring electrical current. The contact area is reduced and held at a required distance by an operating system to concentrate the current. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in arc oven for continuous extraction of silicon metal. Facilitates changing between standard carbon electrodes and graphite electrodes with min. disruption.
