The pedal actuator for use in a road vehicle, e.g. clutch, has the pedal (2) hinged about a point (A), with the cable(s) coupled on one side. The frame of the pedal has a profiled top surface with a groove shaped to receive the cables (5,5'). The groove has the half round profile of the main cable section. The end of the cable has a cylindrical section (6) that fits into a transverse groove and retains the cable in the main groove. Clutch operation occurs by applying a tension load to the cable.
