Heat-concentrating and heat-pumping solar collector - maximises efficiency by minimising heat losses to surroundings

A solar collector is covered with a pane which allows the passage of solar radiation and is held within a heat-insulated mount. A two-component fluid heat-carrying medium flows through the collector one of the media can be evaporated at the operating temp. the heat medium proceeds in a direction contrary to that taken by the heat towards the covering pane, and seeps through the heat insulation elements such as aquare or hexagonal honeycomb; the heat medium absorbs heat and increasingly evaporates; the evaporated components and the residual sole are led to the lower end of the collector along a light-absorbing area; and the heat medium is led through pipes or other suitable vessels behind the light-absorbing area so that it surrenders its residual heat in contraflow to the heat medium flowing downwards along the light-absorbing area. USE/ADVANTAGE - The arrangement maximises the efficiency of the solar collector by minimising heat losses to the surroundings.
