The invention relates to a device for irradiating materials with microwaves, especially the raw materials for ceramic substances, alloys, etc., with a conveyor path which is defined, at least in stretches, by a channel or tube arrangement, the walls of which have a certain microwave absorption capacity, with a resonator at least partly surrounding the walls and at least one generator to produce the microwave radiation. In order to be able independently to adjust the heating and irradiation of microwave-treated materials, the invention proposes that the walls of the channel or tube arrangement (1; 9.1-9.3) have differing microwave absorption properties along its length.
