An arrangement for sealing an intermediate space (4) between an outer housing (1) and an inner structure, especially in a steam turbine, with a tubular intermediate ring (3) as a sealing component, which is constructed and arranged to be movable vertically at a first end (31) and horizontally movable at a second end (33) in such a way that a positive difference (P1-P2) between a pressure (P1) inside the intermediate ring (3) and a pressure (P2) in the intermediate space (4) always results in a force pressing the intermediate ring (3) against a supporting surface (37). The arrangement avoids inserts and thus turbulence inside the intermediate ring (3) and thus and through defined forces acting on the sealing supporting surface (37) prevents the intermediate ring (3) from fluttering.
