A fire-proofing glazing (1a) is composed of two panes (2) spaced apart by spacers (4, 6) and a fire-proofing foil (25) wound on a shaft (22) in the upper spacer (4). The fire-proofing foil (25) is secured with its outer longitudinal marginal zone (27) to a plate-like traction weight (28). The traction weight (28) is fixed in position in the upper spacer (4) by means of a meltable positioning material (31). In the event of a fire, and once the positioning material (31) has melted, the traction weight (28) filled with a drying agent (20) is pulled downwards by the force of gravity and unwinds the fire-proofing foil (25), which thus forms between the panes (2) a shield that is inflated when a determined temperature is reached. Instead of the wound fire-proofing foil (25), a folded fire-proofing foil may also be used.
