CO2 and SO2 from fluid bed furnace exhaust gases, gases are treated with a catalytic convertor. The furance exhaust gases are treated with a MgO catalyst at a temp. which is dependent upon the concn. of CO2 and/or SO2; the MgO catalyst is incorporated in a solid bed, fluid bed, or shaped catalytic convertor, MgO introduced into the process as fine solid particles; the substance contg. Mg is MgCO3 or contains MgCO3 inserted into the process of a temp. where conversion to MgO takes place. USE/ADVANTAGE - Facilitates the construction of a low-cost convertor which removes NOx gases from fluid bed exhausts.
