A pair of upper and lower radius rods are connected at their rear ends to upper and lower portions of a swingable link system which includes a knuckle and upper and lower control arms, and have their front ends interconnected and pivotally connected to a vehicle body through an elastic support member for vertical swinging movement, and an included angle between two straight lines connecting the pivoted point and respective rear ends of the radius rods is set to be an acute angle. This enables the manner of application of a force to the elastic support member between the radius rods and the vehicle body to be differentiated between a case where a braking force has been applied to the wheel and a case where a longitudinal load has been applied to a central portion of the wheel. Thus, it is possible to provide a larger longitudinal compliance while insuring a caster rigidity of the suspension system, thereby satisfying both of a straight advancing property during braking and a shock absorbing property during travelling on a bad road surface and moreover, to improve even the riding comfort during braking. |
