PURPOSE:To provide a plastic clad optical fiber having a sufficiently high adhesive force between a core and a clad. CONSTITUTION:A plastic clad optical fiber has a core 11, a clad 13, and a reactive compound monomolecular layer chemically combined with the core 11 and the clad. The clad layer 13 is formed after the reactive compound monomolecular layer 12 which can be chemically combined with the core 11 and the clad 13 is formed on the core 11.
