PURPOSE:To provide an optical information reproducing device which can read out information recorded at a high density without receiving any influence from a tracking error and is high in transfer rate and low in error rate. CONSTITUTION:This optical information reproducing device is provided with a light source, frequency modulators 5 and 7 which modulate the frequency of light rays from the light source, two detectors 18 and 19 which respectively detect orthogonally crossing polarized components of reflected or transmitted light rays produced when pits recorded on a medium are irradiated with the frequency-modulated light rays, a phase detector which detects the phase difference between information signals and a reference signal and is not shown in the figure, and an A/D converter which converts the output of the phase detector into digital signals and is not shown in the figure. When a tracking error occurs, a phase shift in beat signals caused by the tracking error is canceled by separately detecting diffracted beat light rays from a pit pair and performing arithmetic operation on the outputs of the detectors 18 and 19. |
