Floor structure for arresting the combustion of falling hot sodium, in which the operation of opening and closing the floor is carried out automatically by using the difference in expansion between metal sheets (26, 28), the falling sodium being confined in a sodium retention tray (10). Numerous unit structures (20) are arranged in parallel in the tray (10). Each unit structure (20) comprises upper and lower support rods (22, 24) extending horizontally and metal sheets (26, 28) which extend obliquely downwards from the two sides of each support rod (22, 24), the lower ends of which are connected to each other.
