PURPOSE:To prevent the movement between cells of an electrolyte and arrest a bridging current by inserting a material sheet never wetted with the electrolyte between a separating plate and an electrode, and protruding the material from the boundary surface by pressurization to form a bulkhead on the separating plate outer circumference. CONSTITUTION:Cells 11 formed of a porous plate anode 13 and cathode 14 and a liquid electrolyte present between them are stacked to form a fuel cell 10. Sheets 18, 19 of a material never wetted with the electrolyte are inserted between a separating plate 12 and the electrodes 13, 14 followed by pressurization. The sheet material is permeated to the hole of the electrode plate and integrated, and the material is further protruded from the boundary surface to form a bulkhead on the outer circumference of the separating plate 12. Thus, the electrolyte is prevented from moving between the cells 11 in the state where the cell 10 is assembled. Thus, the movement of the electrolyte within the fuel cell is arrested to prevent the corrosion by a bridging current. |
