The invention relates to a method for sampling particles. It is characterised in that, in order to form these samples: - a plurality of so-called elementary surfaces, separate from one another, are defined, - a monolayer (4) of particles is arranged on each of these elementary surfaces so as to form so-called intermediate batches, the number of particles in which is much less than the number of particles necessary to constitute a final batch, - each intermediate batch is examined and, on the one hand, the number of particles in each intermediate batch is determined and, on the other hand, each intermediate batch is categorised according, in particular, to the size and the shape of the particles in this intermediate batch, - combinations of at least two intermediate batches are selected which can each constitute a final batch which, in addition to the required number of particles, has a distribution, in particular as regards the size and the shape of the particles, which is close to that of all the intermediate batches examined, - the intermediate batch combinations, which have been each selected to form a final batch (6), are extracted, and the remainder is removed. <IMAGE>
