PURPOSE:To play a more human automatic accompaniment by generating a sound based upon passing tone data according to the difference between a chord which is being played and a chord to be played next. CONSTITUTION:An automatic performance pattern data memory 17 is stored with an automatic performance pattern data for automatic performance and a passing tone table is also stored in this automatic performance pattern data memory 17. This automatic performance data memory 17 is accessed by a CPU 14 through a system bus 30. Then the passing tone corresponding to the difference between the chord which is currently played and the chord to be played next is stored in the passing tone table in advance, the chord to be played next is detected at specific timing of the automatic performance based upon the chord which is currently played, and passing tone data is read out of the passing tone table according to the difference between the chord which is currently played and the chord to be played next, thereby generating a sound based upon the chord to be played next after the sound based upon the passing tone data is generated. |
