PURPOSE:To enhance a yield by preventing the leakage between signal wirings and leader lines and light shielding layers in a non-display region so as to prevent the generation of defects of picture elements, the degradation in the contrast of a display, etc. CONSTITUTION:The conductive light shielding layer 23 for shielding the light in parts exclusive of the picture element electrodes 12 of the display region is provided on an insulating substrate 11 and the conductive light shielding layer 27 for shielding the light of the non-display region is provided on an insulating substrate 24. The generation of the leakage between the signal wirings and leader lines on the insulating substrate 11 in the non-display region and the light shielding layer 27 is, therefore, obviated. In addition, the light shielding layer 23 of the display region is provided on the insulating substrate 11 and, therefore, the superposing accuracy of the picture element electrodes 12, etc., and the light shielding layer 23 is good and the opening ratio is high. |
