PURPOSE:To provide a camera having a focus detecting means and a sight line detecting means in which an automatic focus detecting means displays whether focus detection based on information obtained by the sight line detecting means is carried out or not. CONSTITUTION:A camera is provided with a sight line detecting means T1 for detecting the gazing direction of a photographer gazing into a viewfinder of a camera, a focus detecting means for detecting a focusing state in a plurality of zones in the viewfinder of a photographing system and a focusing display means having a first display mode and a second display mode concerning focusing display, and when focus detection is carried out by the focus detecting means 6 based on sight line information obtained by the sight line detecting means T1, focusing is displayed in the first display mode of the focusing display means, and when focus detection is not carried out by the focus detecting means 6 based on the sight line information obtained by the sight line detecting means T1, the focusing is displayed in the second display mode of the focusing display means. |
