PURPOSE:To drive respective driver ICs without placing them in a floating state. CONSTITUTION:In this matrix display device which obtains electrooptic display effect, a driver IC 4 connected to column-side electrodes outputs a reference voltage, a modulation voltage, a 1st write voltage, and a 2nd write voltage and driver ICs 2 and 3 connected to row-side electrodes outputs a reference voltage, a 1st or 2nd write voltage, and a high impedance state; and the respective driver ICs 2-4 are driven without being placed in the floating state.
