PURPOSE:To provide good liquid holding capability and maintain a stable cycle life by specifically arranging copolymer resin with ethylene excellent in affinity to electrolyte and vinyl alcohol as the exposed portion of a fiber surface. CONSTITUTION:An alkali battery separator consists of the first element 1 which is a copolymer with ethylene and vinyl alcohol and the second element 2 which is another polyolefin group copolymer. At least one of both elements has a sectional shape that it is split into two or more in arrangement, each component being adjacent to other components of mutually different elements and all components being exposed to the fiber surface in part. A non-woven fabric to which a fiber web in combination of 20% or more composite fiber and one type or several types of polyolefin group fiber excluding polyolefin group composite fiber is heatedly pressed is used for the separator. The weights of the first and second elements are in the ratio of 10:90-50:50, and the fiber surface is exposed in the ratio of 90:10-50:50. |
