PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display element which has an inconspicuous display irregularity. CONSTITUTION:On a super twisting type liquid crystal display element equipped with one phase difference film 4, polarizing plates 1 and 5 are so arranged as to make a normally white display, which is transmission The nXd of the phase difference film 4 is preferably 0.25-0.40mum. Consequently, the display irregularity becomes inconspicuous by >=3 times as much as that of a conventional liquid crystal display element. Further, sufficient color compensation effect is obtained by only one phase difference film 4. The response speed becomes fast, and such secondary effect that the contrast at the time of high pretilt orientation becomes high is obtained. |
