PURPOSE: To realize a smooth, silent and highly accurate operation similar to that of a DC brushless motor using an inexpensive stepper motor by applying a voltage to the first winding of a motor, detecting a predetermined angle of the rotation of the shaft and removing the voltage from the first winding, and then applying a voltage sequentially to second and subsequent windings. CONSTITUTION: A shaft position encoder 16 generates shaft position information which is stored in a position register 18. A positional command is generated from a profile generator 22 and the difference from positional information obtained at a sum anode 20 is delivered to a controller 24 which delivers a duty cycle instruction signal to a drive circuit 28 through a pulse width modulator 26. On the other hand, a divider circuit 34 generates a pulse based on positional information obtained from the shaft position encoder 16 and a sequencer 30 delivers output signals sequentially from output terminals A-D upon receiving the pulse. An output signal from the sequencer 30 and a PWM signal from the pulse width modulator 26 are ANDed through a drive circuit 28 and a voltage is applied sequentially to four windings of a motor 14. |
