An alarm system for detecting persons who accidentally fall into water and who may be in the water in an emergency situation that requires help, of the kind comprising a signal transmitter means (20) including an activating means (23) for actuating said transmitter means which is sensitive to a pre-determined condition, said transmitter means being attachable to the body of a user by removable means of attachment, characterized by at least one receiver means (21) for receiving said transmitted signal and capable of identifying the signal and of controlling an alarm device disposed at a place where help is available.
