PURPOSE:To improve signal/background ratio by completely preventing the background count from increasing owing to emission of electrons from inner wall of a gas flow-type proportional counter tube. CONSTITUTION:In a gas flow-type proportional counter tube, by applying voltage to the wall of a container 1 or a conductor 10 independently from a specimen 3 or an anode, the electrons generated by radiation of coming-in electromagnetic waves or scattered electromagnetic waves to the wall of the container 1 are captured completely by the wall of the container 1 or the conductor 10 and gas emission is suppressed and thus the signal/background ratio is improved.
