PURPOSE:To prevent the short circuit by a dendrite by making the width of a separator larger than the width of an electrode, and applying an electrically insulating material insoluble to electrolyte in a thickness 1/2 or more of the electrode thickness. CONSTITUTION:An electrode plate group in which a positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode 3 are spirally wound through a separator 2 is received in a vessel C. The width of the separator 2 is set larger than the widths of the positive electrode 1 and negative electrode 3, and an electrically insulating material 4 insoluble to electrolyte is applied to the peripheral part of the separator 2 not opposed to the positive electrode and negative electrode in a thickness 1/2 or more of the thicker thickness of the electrode. Thus, a dendrite generated on the negative electrode plate 3 peripheral part is never turned over the end of the separator 2 to make contact with the positive electrode 2. Thus, the short circuit of the negative electrode and the positive electrode based on the generation, precipitation and growth of the dendrite can be prevented. |
