The invention relates to a slat structure for covering an opening, for example an opening in a door frame. The slat construction is formed from slats which are mounted horizontally in the opening and are mounted at a distance from one another in the vertical direction in such a manner that there is a gap between them. The view through this gap is covered by, in the vertical direction, arranging the slats in an overlapping manner in relation to one another corresponding at least to the dimensions of the gap. The ends of the slats are made with hooks 3', 4 in such a manner that the slats can be fastened to the rabbet of the opening by a moulding 5 fitted in edge chases. <IMAGE>
