<p>A hard disk error recovery subsystem, which is in a fault computer system (10), comprises an audit subsystem comprising a specified audit partition region (16) on a hard disk (24) of the computer system. The specified audit partition region has an audit header field (28) and an audit buffer field (30). When the computer system accesses a data source to modify a data thereon, the original data is transferred to the audit subsystem which retains the original data and a history of the modification and a history of other events which occur in the computer system. The user may return to a desired previous state of the hard disk by using the retained original data, the retained history of the modifications and the retained history of events which occurred in the computer system.</p> |
