An electromagnetic valve has a magnetic armature (1) that is enclosed in a valve dome (11) and that moves back and forth according to the current applied to a magnetic coil (1) arranged on the valve dome (11), so that a valve lifter formed on the magnetic armature (1) and partially enclosed by a magnetic core (9) acts on a valve seat (5) fastened in a valve housing (10). At least one recess (3) having a defined length, width and depth partially extends in the longitudinal direction on the circumferencial surface of the valve lifter (2) remote from the magnetic armature (1) in order to deaden possible valve switching noises.
