<p>A security device, particularly a theft protection device for rigidly connecting or disconnecting a steering wheel and a vehicle steering column. Said device (10) comprises a base plate (200) which is rigidly connected to the steering column and supports a central locking head (202); a housing (100) which rotates with the steering wheel and is mounted on the base plate (200) so as to be coaxially rotatable about the steering column, said housing having a guide channel receiving a coupling slide (300) which is movable between a position in which it is directly coupled to the central head (202), and a position in which it is uncoupled therefrom; a push rod (505) connecting the coupling slide (300) to a lock plug (502) which is slidable in a turn sleeve (504) fixed inside the housing (100), whereby inserting a key (CP) according to the turn defined by said sleeve (54) places the slide in its coupled position to rigidly connect the steering wheel to the steering column, and when the key is withdrawn, said slide is automatically caused to return to its uncoupled position by related resilient elements (312, 508) to disconnect the steering wheel from the steering column. The device may be used particularly as theft protection equipment for all kinds of vehicles, or as security equipment for valves to prevent unauthorized use thereof.</p> |
