The bottle washing machine transports the bottles (2) on a conveyor (1) through a sequence of washing and flushing processes involving immersion of the bottles in a series of hot solution baths (3). To avoid prolonged or insufficient process time when the throughput rate is varied, the immersed length of bottle conveyor in the bath is made adjustable. The adjustment can be made by altering the level (5) of solution in the bath. A pumping and control system (12,13) pumps liquid from the bath to an inner tank (11). ADVANTAGE - Allows precise matching of throughput rate of washing machine to that of other machining in line.
