<p>A liquid crystal light valve comprises a layered assembly (12,14,18,22,30). Said assembly includes a pair of transparent conductive electrodes (12,30), a liquid crystal layer (22), a mirror layer (18) and a photosensitive layer (14) having a irregular pattern of diodes (15) formed thereon. Said liquid crystal, mirror and photosensitive layers (22,18,14) are all sandwiched together between said transparent conductive electrodes (12,30).
