Amorphous precipitated silicas suitable for use in transparent toothpastes having surface area in the range 250 to 600 m<2>/g, an oil absorption of 90 to 160 cm<3>/100 g, a perspex abrasion value from 8 to 15, a mean pore diameter from 1.5 to 21 nm, a transmission of at least 70 % within the refractive index range of 1.435 and 1.456, and a weight mean particle size from 5 to 20 micron. |
