When a changeover command from the P cam to another cam is detected, a lapse time from the changeover command is measured, and while the lapse time is discriminated to be less than a set time ts, line pressure Pu is retrieved from a map in accordance with a speed shift step command S and a throttle opening command TVO, and command is made to a control valve 11. Hereupon, the length of the set time ts is decided at a length that can fully cover the generation time of a shock caused at the time of changeover from the P cam to the L cam or the H cam. Also, a map for cam changeover is decided so that line pressure PL may become low against a map for ordinary use.
