A method for the manufacture of carbonaceous bodies and a coating of silicon-infiltrated silicon carbide is described. In this case, the surface of carbonaceous bodies is coated with an aqueous slip which contains finely disperse silicon carbide and binder. The coating is then dried, and the binder is decomposed by means of heat. The coated carbonaceous bodies are then silicised on their surface by contact with molten silicon. |
