<p>PURPOSE: To eliminate damages on a sheet by a method wherein a vertical force action member is structured so that a pressing force can uniformly be distributed in a feeder in which the vertical force action member presses an upper face of a sheet stack and the downmost sheet is fed out with action of a frictional sheet feeding member. CONSTITUTION: This sheet separator/feeder 80 in a manuscript operating device for feeding manuscript papers to a platen of a copying press has a nip containing a retard pad 62 coming into contact with a bottom face of a sheet stack, and the downmost sheet is separated by a flat upper travel part of a driven frictional feed belt 50 to be fed out. There is provided a vertical force action shoe unit 70 for supporting this feed-out action, and this has a downward pivotal arm assembly 76 which is activated when a sensor 78 detects an insert of a manuscript stack, and in which a shoe 72 is pivotally fitted on a fitting part 74. An elastic frictional retard pad 62 is disposed at a downstream side of the shoe 72, and separates manuscripts in cooperation with the frictional feed belt 50.</p> |
