PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain amides such as acrylamide in high purity by culturing Agrobacterium.rhizogenes IAM13570 strain, etc., belonging to the genus Agrobacterium and capable of producing the amides from nitriles. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism Agrobacterium.rhizogenes IAM13570 or Agrobacterium.tumefaciens IAM1319, belonging to the genus Agrobacterium and having the ability to decompose nitriles is aerobically cultured in a culture medium at 30 deg.C for 3 days and the resultant culture solution is then centrifuged to collect microbial cells, which are subsequently washed with a physiological saline solution and then suspended in a 0.01 M phosphoric acid buffer solution (pH 7.0). An aqueous solution of the nitriles (e.g. acrylonitrile) is then mixed with the suspension and reacted at 30 deg.C for 1hr. Thereby, the amides (e.g. acrylamide) of industrial high purity are obtained from the nitriles. |
