PURPOSE:To continuously and easily measure over a long time the amount of neutrons generated from a nuclear fusion reactor. CONSTITUTION:A wire or a band 11 made of a metal emitting delayed neutrons is extended around a nuclear fusion reactor 1 and between the nuclear fusion reactor and a measuring site distant from the reactor in such a manner that the belt can be moved round by a driving gear 12. A plurality of neutron detectors disposed in the measuring site are used to detect delayed neutrons which are generated with a delay of a fixed time after neutrons are applied from the nuclear fusion reactor to the wire or belt, and the result of the detection is input to a calculator 15. The calculator 15 controls the driving gear 12 so that the time required for the wire or belt 11 to move from a neutron application site where the nuclear fusion reactor 1 is located to the neutron detectors located in the measuring site becomes equal to the delay time from when neutrons are applied to the metal emitting delayed neutrons until the delayed neutrons are emitted, and a signal indicative of detection of delayed neutrons is sampled and arithmetic processing is performed so as to measure the amount of the neutrons measured.
