<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a method by which at least one of first physical or geometrical characteristics, difficult to be measured, of a product continuously manufactured in the form of a strip, sheet, shape steel, wire, etc., can be detected and measured nondestructively in an on-line state. CONSTITUTION: The second characteristic Y of a product 2 which can be easily measured continuously and the change of which can be correlated with the first characteristic X by the well-known method is selected and the first characteristic X is changed by working the product 2 in a prescribed area on the manufacturing line of the product 2. Then the characteristic X is changed to the well known prescribed reference state X0 and the second characteristic Y is measured in an area B. Thereafter, the first characteristic X is found by finding the change of the characteristic X to the reference state X0 by processing the measured value of the second characteristic Y. Therefore, the flatness of a strip continuously passing through a flatting device can be detected and measured nondestructively in an on-line state.</p> |
