MANUFACTURE OF FIBER REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC RESIN SHEET

PURPOSE:To impregnate a fiber mat with resin evenly and sufficiently and manufacture a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin sheet of superior strength with high productivity. CONSTITUTION:A number of roving-like glass fiber bundles F1 are passed continuously in a fluidized bed of blended powder R of polyvinyl chloride resin, and resin blended powder R is made to adhere to the reinforced fiber bundles F1. Reinforced fiber bundles F2 which the resin blended powder R is made to adhere are fed into respective fiber feeders 7 and bent to form a large number of loops, and dropped onto a transfer section 11b of an endless belt 11 and accumulated into the mat shape. Said accumulated material F3 is passed into a heating oven 12 while being clamped between endless belts 10 and 11 to melt the resin blended powder. Successively the material is collected by means of a cooling blower 13 to manufacture a desired fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin sheet S.
