LIVING BODY DUCT DILATOR, PRODUCTION THEREOF ND STENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a living body duct dilator having no danger of restenosis and not remaining in a living body by knitting a biologically degradable fiber to form cylindrical knit fabric and contracting the diameter of said fabric to form a stent and attaching this stent to a balloon catheter. CONSTITUTION:Polyglycolic acid monofilament with a diameter of about 160mum is knitted to form a mesh like stent with a diameter of 4.5mm. Next, an inner tube 2 having an outer diameter of about 4.0mm is inserted in the stent 1 to heat-treat the stent 1. Subsequently, the stent 1 is thermally set while it is passed through a Teflon(R) tube 3 having an inner diameter of about 1.8mm using a wire to obtain the stent 1 whose folding outer diameter is contracted to 1.8mm. This stent 1 is attached to a catheter 5 having a balloon 4 to be inserted in the constricted region 6 of a living body duct and the balloon 4 is expanded by a pressure device 7 to expand the stent 1 until the outer diameter thereof becomes about 4mm. The balloon 4 is contracted to pull out the catheter 5 to arrange the stent 1 to the constricted region 6.
