PURPOSE:To make it possible to ensure stability of migration time without causing a change in pH of a buffer even when an electrophoresis is executed for a long time, by partitioning each electrode tank by a salt bridge. CONSTITUTION:A salt bridge used herein is a kind of liquid junction and it connects electrically two monopolar liquids constituting two half cell systems while preventing them from mixing with each other. This bridge is employed for partitioning an electrode tank. When an electrode from a high-voltage power source and a capillary column are partitioned by the salt bridge in disposition, in other words, a buffer around the electrode and the buffer around the capillary column are isolated physically from each other, although they are connected together electrically. Even when an electrophoresis is executed for a long time, accordingly, pH of the buffer around the capillary column does not change, while the pH of the buffer around the electrode changes, and thus a migration time having reproducibility is obtained. The salt bridge is prepared by a gel preparing method adopted generally. |
