PURPOSE:To obtain a new low thermoduric protease. CONSTITUTION:A protease having an amino acid sequence represented by 1 to 361 amino acid Nos. in the sequence expressed by the formula. The amino acid at the 101-position in the amino acid sequence is substituted with threonine. A mutant strain capable of producing the low-thermoduric protease is found from a mutant of a microorganism capable of producing the protease and a gene of a mutant protease is isolated from the mutant strain, integrated into a vector and transduced into a microorganism. The obtained transformant is cultured to afford the objective protease.
