According to the invention, a sludge thickener or more generally a device for removing liquid from a liquid- containing material is indicated. The device has a rotary drum and the contacting surface thereof is constituted by wire cloths 13, i.e. it is provided with a quantity of holes, through which water passes out from the sludge. The sludge which is to be thickened is led in through a pipe 17 and has to pass through the interior of the drum, which drum rotates slowly and has an inclined axle relative to the horizontal plane. The drum is provided with a plurality of gauzes 13, which are exchangeable and can have different mesh size within different regions of the drum viewed in the axial direction of the latter. <IMAGE> |
