The digital comb filter detects the correlation between upper and lower hrizontal scanning lines of the three successive horizontal lines to separate luminance and color signals from the inputed video signal according to the correlation. The filter comprises a comb filtering circuit (10) for outputting 1H- and 2Hcomb filtered video signals and 1H-delayed video signal, a correlation data generator (20), a multiplexer (30) connected to the circuit (10) to select one from the first and second 1H-comb data, 2H-comb data or 1H-delayed video signal according to the logic state of selection data, and a comb filtering control circuit (40). The control circuit (40) compares the correlation data from the generator (20) with reference data at an input terminal (102) and controls the multiplexer (30).
