PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of an image by detecting an image formation position from a pattern image formed on a photosensitive body by the use of a compact inexpensive position detecting means and adjusting the image formation position based on the position detection signal. CONSTITUTION:An image forming device which forms an image by the use of a photosensitive drum 107 by an electrophotographic process is provided with an optical writing unit 101 which forms the prescribed pattern image in a non-image area on the photosensitive drum 107, a pattern detecting sensor 111 which optically reads the pattern image formed by the optical writing unit 101 and a writing-position adjusting means which adjusts the image formation position according to the detection signal from the pattern detecting sensor 111. |
