PURPOSE:To execute accurate range-finding by reducing the variation of the centroid caused by the missing of beams. CONSTITUTION:In a range-finder for a camera, provided with a light projecting element 10 projecting an optical beam whose cross-section is made into a rectangle on an object, and a light receiving element 6 receiving reflected beams, for instance, the square light projecting element 10 is rotated by 45 deg.C and disposed, so that the rectangular part of a rectangular beam projected from the above-mentioned light projecting element is turned toward a base line direction 50 for connecting the light projecting element and the light receiving element. Therefore, a change in a centroid position caused by the missing of the beams is reduced, and range-finding is accurate. |
