PURPOSE:To improve economy and operability by automatically discriminating the surfaces provided with the photosensitive layers of the photosensitive planographic printing plates and supplying a developer only to these surfaces, thereby executing development processing. CONSTITUTION:While the photosensitive planographic printing plates subjected to image exposing are transported by using an automatic developing machine, the substantially unused developer is supplied to both or either of the surfaces on the upper side and the surface on the lower side of every one sheet of the photosensitive planographic printing plates to be processed and these surfaces are subjected to the development processing in a developing section 1. The surfaces provided with the photosensitive layers of the photosensitive planographic printing plates are detected by optical sensors 22a, 22b and are automatically discriminated by a control section 23. These surfaces are subjected to the development processing by supplying the developer only to these surfaces. Then, the wastefulness that the developer is supplied to the surfaces not required to be provided is eliminated. The economical and stable processing is possible and the operability is improved even if the double-side plates and the single-side plates are processed in combination by one unit of the automatic developing machine. |
