PURPOSE: To generate returned pulses from a less number of retro-reflectors which are resolved into two lobes only by installing at lest one cubic corner-like retro-reflector to a target so that the visual field of the retro-reflector can at least partially cross a route. CONSTITUTION: A target has at least one cubic corner-like retro-reflector 11-15 and the visual field of the retro-reflector at least partly intersects a route. The cubic corner has reflecting surfaces 2-4 forming dihedral angles 5-7 which converge toward the apex of the corner. The surfaces 2 and 3 are perpendicular to the surface 4 and, at the same time, form an angle which is different from a one-arc second deviationεby at least 90 deg.. In addition, the surfaces 2-4 converge at a dihedral angle. The deviation falls within a range from the mitnimum value to the maximum value of a formula V1 /(sinθ), where V1 andθ(radian) respectively represent the relative speed at a fixed point on the route and the angle between the line connecting the point with the target and a corrected dihedral angle.
