PURPOSE:To leave a toner image on recording paper as an accurate image and to obtain a satisfactory copying image by providing a charge removing means by which charges remaining on the recording paper between a transfer means and a fixing means are removed in contact with the back of the recording paper or apart therefrom. CONSTITUTION:After the toner image formed with toner T is transferred to the recording paper P and separated from the surface of a photosensitive drum 11, the recording paper p is carried to a heat fixing device 25 by a carrier 24 in this condition. A separation electrode 22 and the carrier 24 are provided with a destaticizing unit 23. The destaticizing unit 23 is adjusted by a destaticization voltage adjusting unit 23A, for example, to a constant voltage of -300V, which is the most efficient voltage corresponding to transfer speed. At the time of the separation of the recording paper P, electrified positive/negative charge is destaticized by the destaticizing unit 23. By the destaticization, the charges on the recording paper P are removed almost completely and the image formed with the toner T on the recording paper P is not disturbed. The destaticization may be carried out, for example, by bringing a contact- member for which charges are applied by bringing the member into contact with the back of the recording paper P. |
