PURPOSE:To allow an attenuation value to be set with good accuracy and to obviate the generation of harmful return light as well as to provide excellent attaching and detaching stability and durability. CONSTITUTION:A microthrough-hole 4 is provided at the center of a circular columnar ferrule 1. The front end faces 7, 8 of optical fibers 2, 3 from which respective coating parts 5, 6 are removed are polished in such a manner as to have a prescribed angle theta with the rectangular plane of the optical axis. A light source L is connected to the other end of the optical fiber 2 and a power meter M for measuring the attenuation value of a light signal is connected to the other end of the optical fiber 3, respectively. The front ends coated with an adhesive of the optical fibers 2, 3 are inserted into a ferrule 1 from both ends thereof and while the attenuation value of the light signal is read, the respective optical fibers are fixed at the point of the prescribed value. Both end faces of the ferrule 1 are finished by polishing together with the optical fibers. |
