The device includes, in the version represented, a rectangular target panel (1) made up overall of a transparent polycarbonate plate (10) held at the four corners by hooks (12, 12', 12'', 12''') fixed to a front face (2) which forms the screen for the projected image of a golf hole (9) at a known virtual (imaginary) distance. At the four corners of the plate (10) are fixed piezoelectric microphones (11, 11', 11'', 11'''. When a ball (8), launched at an origin instant from a launching base strikes the plate (10), the acoustic shock corresponding to the impact of the ball reaches the various microphones (11, 11', 11'', 11''') at different instants, the time discrepancies corresponding to the differences in instants between the impact and the microphones (11-11'''). These discrepancies make it possible to determine the position of the impact on the target panel (1), whereas the duration of the path of the ball from the launching pad to the panel (1) determines the initial speed. Trajectory elements, and consequently the virtual position of the arrival of the ball with respect to the objective hole (9), itself also virtual, are deduced therefrom. <IMAGE>
