PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous detection which occurs because an object is positioned on a boundary between blocks by changing the position of a division boundary according to the position of the line of sight at the time of dividing a focus detecting area into plural blocks. CONSTITUTION:This camera includes a photographing lens 11, a detecting means for the line of sight 40 for detecting the position of the line of sight of a photographer on a photographic image plane formed by the lens 11, and a focus detecting means 30 for detecting focus by dividing the focus detecting area of specified size set on the photographic image plane in a state where the boundary in accordance with the position of the gaze is fixed. The detecting means for the line of sight 40 detects the position of the line of sight of the photographer on the photographic image plane formed by the lens 11, and the focus detecting means 30 detects the focus by dividing the focus detecting area of specified size set on the photographic image plane in a state where the boundary in accordance with the position of the line of sight is fixed. Therefore, the position of the division boundary in the case of dividing the focus detecting area into plural blocks in changed in accordance with the position of the line of sight. |
